Highdy ho, and welcome to our results show live blog. No poll results this week, because we, um, kind of forgot to post them. But no matter–I’m sure you all agreed with me, so they probably would have looked like this: Best Crystal Bowersox (66%) Worst Aaron Kelly (T-33%) Who Should be in the [...] Since Jason was kind enough to sub for me on the live blog of last night’s show, I’ll incorporate some comments on those performances in my power rankings for this week rather than doing a whole separate post. A reminder that this is my opinion of the contestants and is not predictive. It is cumulative, with [...] Last night’s Top 9 redux was one of the weaker episodes in a while, and it wouldn’t surprise me if this show is hemorrhaging viewers. I did not prepare a fantasy song list this week, but Gordon did, and he was way wrong. Regardless, there were very few Idols who were able to do anything [...] Welcome to tonight’s live blog! I will be filling in for Gordon tonight, so expect quite a bit of hate-snark! So, after last week’s shocking results, Big Mike was saved by the judges, and now two Idols will be sent packing this week. Will Mike’s fans step up to prevent another shocker? Will Tim Urban finally [...] My wish list for Elvis week. Siobhan Magnus – “Are You Lonesome Tonight?” This could make me cry like Sanjaya Girl. Crystal Bowersox — “Hound Dog” Crystal’s been boring with her generic blues-rock lately, but going back to Big Mama Thornton’s original could work perfectly. (Alternate choice: “Trouble”) Michael Lynche – “Suspicious Minds” Bring the intensity, Mike. Bring it. (Alternate corny choice: “Teddy [...] Ok, so — unfortunately — I had one of those weeks. But better late than never. I made my rankings this week and was unable to post them, so these were not affected by the insane results of the nationwide vote this week. On that subject, however, I’d like to say that the voters have lost their [...] Last night’s show was a good one, and a solid performance from Tim Urban makes predictions difficult. Or maybe it makes predictions easier. I keep predicting he’ll go, and he keeps staying, and this week it’s easier to predict he’ll stay. On the other hand, maybe a good performance will cause his voting bloc to relax [...] It’s tough to rank after a night like this. Only one performance was truly awful, and Tim Urban was good. Was Tim good enough to move from the cellar following week after week of disaster? These rankings are supposed to be cumulative, after all, so the past should weigh him down. The answer, after much internal [...] I took a break from the power rankings game last week, but I was surprisingly accurate in my assessment of Didi Benami’s performance. I had her ranked ninth, just above Tim, who pretty much always sits at the bottom of the rankings. I thought Didi’s performance was mechanical, and she resembled a wind-up doll.
