I took a break from the power rankings game last week, but I was surprisingly accurate in my assessment of Didi Benami’s performance. I had her ranked ninth, just above Tim, who pretty much always sits at the bottom of the rankings. I thought Didi’s performance was mechanical, and she resembled a wind-up doll. The show recovered nicely after last week’s disaster, with Michael Lynche, Lee DeWyze, Crystal Bowersox, and Casey James all delivering performance ranging from very good to outstanding. The biggest surprise, though, was Andrew Garcia, who finally justified his presence on the show with a sterling [...] Well, this week sure threw things all topsy-turvy! Andrew Garcia came out of seemingly nowhere and graced us with a terrific performance, while (former?) favorite Siobhan Magnus committed an assault on our eardrums so egregious that she may be in jail for tomorrow night’s results episode. I’m glad I don’t have to make predictions until tomorrow. [...] Hello, all! Welcome to our Episode 26 (almost) live blog. Can’t say I’m excited about this week’s theme, R&B and soul. I suppose it’s better than Billboard #1 Hits, but it doesn’t exactly require a lot of stretching. We’ll see how it goes. Since Gordon, Jason, and I all post Power Rankings, I’ve decided to post this composite list after every elimination episode. Contestants are awarded points based on their rankings in each list and then re-ranked based on grand total of points from all three. The week’s eliminated contestant will not be included in Composite Power Rankings. After each [...] I usually try to write a quick couple of paragraphs ahead of these results show recaps. This week, I went a little nuts, so I spun my introduction into a separate post. Despite the thoughts expressed in that post, last night was a little rough. Paige Miles provided a Master’s Class in bad singing, which had [...] I’m just going to jump right into it this week after a forgettable episode. Each contestant’s previous rank is in parenthesis after their name. 1. Siobhan Magnus (1) – Siobhan still was one of the best of the night even though it was her worst performances in a while. That’s impressive. 2. Michael Lynche (3) – Big [...] Last night’s episode was declared in several places to be the worst episode of American Idol ever. I doubt very seriously that that’s true. Remember two years ago when they tried to do Beatles week two weeks in a row and the second week was a disaster? Was it worse than that? Maybe it was. But [...] |
