With the way that this season has gone, it has been difficult for me to muster up any excitement about tonight’s final round. Crystal has been solid throughout the competition, but she has seemed to be a little bit on auto-pilot for the last three weeks. Lee has been shaky and out of tune for [...] *Sigh* So many things I would like to say about last night’s sad continuation of the mediocrity that is this season, but I don’t know if I can find the energy. Here’s tonight’s power rankings, with each contestant ranked from “whatever” to “who cares?”. Lee DeWyze – Lee came out on top tonight, but not by [...] Now that we are down to the top four and finally rid of Aaron Kelly, the last remaining contestant that had absolutely no business even being in this competition to begin with, I assumed that this season would finally heat up. Surely four obviously talented individuals would push the competition to new heights as they [...] Awright, yo yo yo yo, Idol. For me for you tonight, dawg, this just wasn’t one of your best nights, I don’t know. I just wasn’t feelin’ it tonight from you, you really didn’t bring it, you know what I mean? /end of overdone Randy impression. The thing that bothered me the most tonight was that [...] I think a lot of the people who have been bitching about this season may take it back as we hit the top five. It’s going to be a pretty intense run, and I have no clue who will win. My rankings are flipping and flopping a lot more than they did last year. Here’s this [...] This was a surpisingly good week for the Idols, and one of the standout episodes of the season. When I heard we were going to be hearing the Shania Twain songbook, I had a bit of a WTF moment, since I couldn’t even name six Shania Twain songs. However, that may have been beneficial, as [...] Last night’s Top 9 redux was one of the weaker episodes in a while, and it wouldn’t surprise me if this show is hemorrhaging viewers. I did not prepare a fantasy song list this week, but Gordon did, and he was way wrong. Regardless, there were very few Idols who were able to do anything [...] I took a break from the power rankings game last week, but I was surprisingly accurate in my assessment of Didi Benami’s performance. I had her ranked ninth, just above Tim, who pretty much always sits at the bottom of the rankings. I thought Didi’s performance was mechanical, and she resembled a wind-up doll. Anyway, on [...] Another week, and we continue to separate the wheat from the chaff, but there’s still a lot of chaff left. You heard me, Idols! I called you chaff! Deal with it!
